Magazine 01.08.12

What are you doing tomorrow? Why don’t you come and see me at St Kevin’s Arcade along K Rd, Auckland (New Zealand) at ZINEFEST! I’ll be there between 6-9pm and I’ll be selling my magazine at a stall. It is collaborating with First Thursdays, a massive art evening spread along K Rd. It will be amazing and change your life. Do it.

This is the first time I’ve published anything so I’ve had to learn how to (a) use photoshop and (b) make anything good enough for printing. There have been problems, I won’t lie to you but I think I’ve developed a few skills.

What I’ve learnt:
- I need to go on a photoshop course! This is a mind boggling program that I’m certain I only know how to use 5% of. Nothing is obvious.

- Always use a really good camera when putting photos on photoshop. Seems obvious but I thought I’d get away with it. The pixels count.

- Set the document at the page size you want but also go into ‘image size’ and make sure the document is the size of say an A4 or whatever you want it to be.

- I learnt that there are whole books and catalogues at the library devoted to Zines. Always check out all the resources before making a Zine! Oh well.

Next post will be about what I should do next time for the hard copy! Til then…..

Ps. The image is of a bowl made of magazines.

  3. It’s a bit too far for me to come, but good luck!

  4. I shall ask my Anderson Friends in Auckland to go in MY PLACE Have a BLAST! Love this bowl!

  5. Good luck! I’ll be there in spirit (but a long way from the UK)!

  6. Yes I imagine a balloon is how they did it. You should try and then post about it!
